Renovation of the Property

Kilchzimmer is a place with a lot of history. And as it is with old houses: After around 25 years without major renovation, it is time for a comprehensive refresh. To ensure the house functions reliably and continues to serve its purpose, some targeted, long-overdue steps are now needed.

Together with architects, we have created a detailed renovation plan. It clearly shows what needs to be implemented first to ensure safety, habitability, and a stable seminar and cultural life. Many areas have simply aged: technology that is reaching its limits, floors that need to be renewed, and rooms that require modern equipment.

Our first priority includes, among other things:

BUILDING TECHNOLOGY AND SAFETY

  • Renewal of the fire alarm system
  • Improvement of sound insulation in central areas
  • Replacement of the outdated oil heating
  • Repair or renewal of the sewage treatment plant and water treatment
  • Reserves for technical systems whose failure is possible at any time

DESIGNING SEMINAR OPERATIONS TO BE FUNCTIONAL AND FUTURE-PROOF

  • Renewal of floors in the seminar room and corridors
  • Renewal of lighting in the seminar room, dining hall, and kitchen
  • Painting and surface work in the seminar room, kitchen, and dining hall
  • Renewal of the partition wall in the seminar room
  • Design of guest rooms with new beds and uniform furnishings
  • Expansion of a cozy seminar lounge with kitchenette
  • Conversion of the upper floor of the rear house into a smaller seminar room or dormitory for up to ten people, conversion of adjacent rooms into storage areas for inventory and material, a treatment room, and a studio.

EXPANDING LIVING SPACES AND MAKING THEM USABLE

  • Expansion of the large apartment on the third floor
  • Installation of a kitchen
  • Renewal of sanitary facilities
  • Basic equipment for new residents

ACTIVATING ROOMS IN THE REAR HOUSE

  • Expansion for flexible uses such as seminars, group rooms, or dormitories
  • Creation of storage and lounge options
  • Adaptation of rooms for versatile use

PERSONAL CONTRIBUTIONS FROM THE COMMUNITY
